The OnePlus 3 will be announced very soon – and in VR, according to OnePlus. All the rumours were pointing to 18 May 2016, with an early June on sale date, but sadly this didn’t happen.
New information from a OnePlus live chat agent revealed that the OnePlus 3 will be launched on June 14 with a VR launch just like the OnePlus 2 was last year. Unlike last year, however, viewers of the launch event using the Loop VR will be able to purchase the phone before anyone else.
CEO Pete Lau has posted a selfie taken from the front camera of the OnePlus 3 on Chinese social networking site Weibo. The resolution of the picture is at 2448x3264p, which sums up to 8-megapixel. From the render, we can see that the back will be curved and it looks quite ergonomic. It has a brushed silver finish and it would be great if this means it’s not as slippery as other OnePlus devices, like the OnePlus X. The camera protrudes from the back a bit too much. You will also notice the LED flash underneath the camera.
The screen appears bezel-less and takes up most of the front of the device. The display looks crisp but we’ll have to see it in person before we can really pass judgement. We hope to see a QHD AMOLED display, which would be a significant improvement on the OnePlus 2 HD screen.
In the meanwhile, noted tipster Evan Blass also took to Twitter to share a screenshot from the OnePlus 3 running on OxygenOS v3.1.0 based on an Android N preview build. The screenshot revealed that the smartphone may come with a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display, a Snapdragon 820 SoC, and a 16-megapixel rear camera. Blass also tips that OnePlus will reintroduce NFC – a dropped feature inOnePlus 2 Rumors suggest that the phone might come in two variants, one with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the other could have 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The OnePlus 3 will also include a NFC chip, unlike the OnePlus 2. Battery capacity should reach 3500 mAh.
